Infant & Baby Massage Course
Did you know that parents who take an International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM) class learn much more than just the mechanics of a massage routine? Our program involves many different styles of touch, movement, interaction and communication, including learning when is the right time to massage your baby. Infant massage gives parents a chance to connect and interact with their child on a deeper level than the usual day-to-day contact may provide. This class is also a fantastic way to meet other English speaking parents in Stockholm and take some time to slow down and relax.
The IAIM Baby Massage Course is 5 sessions, each 90 minutes long and includes baby safe organic massage oil and take home IAIM instruction booklet, there will also be a Swedish ”fika” break.
Hannah who is a certified IAIM Infant Massage Instructor and a proud mother of two looks forward to meet you and your little ones.
Both research and anecdotal evidence from families have shown that there are many ways that babies and families may benefit from infant massage. Some of the benefits from infant massage are: to help with gas and colic, constipation and elimination, improve sleep, make baby calmer, relieve teething discomforts, promotes growth and development, builds babies self-esteem and enhances bonding between baby and parent. The process of massage also benefits you as parents as it lowers stress levels and raises your mood, which is very beneficial during significant sleep deprivation.
Touch is a very powerful tool in human bonding. Bonding has been defined as a ”unique relationship between two people that is specific and endures through time”. Infant massage and learning how to interpret your babies signals encompasses and supports vital aspects of bonding, and this has profound impact on your babies overall development.
Learning to massage your baby is a gift you can give to your child from the start of life until the day they leave home and beyond; massage and nurturing touch continues to have a profound impact on your child´s development as they grow, in class you will learn how to keep on massaging as your child grows older. This course is recommended from as soon as you have energy to leave home after birth, you can not start giving your baby massage too early, up until the baby starts to walk.
